MCT Designs offers CAD (computer aided design) services specialising in Architectural Metalwork. We have over 15 years experience in the CAD industry, working in two main sectors namely Architectural Metalwork and Mechanical Design.
With our expertise and experience we are able to offer a high quality design package that will provide our clients with a range of drawings, part files and procedures throughout the design and construction process.
Once the design has been approved and the client is satisfied with their product, we will then proceed with a fabrication package which will provide the client with a set of drawings for production, assembly and installation.
During our site inspection of the area where work is proposed, we will gather all the necessary information needed to create a 3D Model of the environment. Information gathered will include a precise location, access and the location of obstacles or potential clashes.
This process is a run through of all the information gathered and the initial design. Its to create a visual of the product design and go over all the ideas and potential options available to the client. The initial product design can be run through simulation software to see how well it will hold up in various conditions, which can often identify design flaws.
All the information gathered from the site survey is transferred to CAD to create a 3D Model. The initial design of the product is then incorporated into the model space, which can be manipulated to suit the clients requirements. All the details are added to the design product i.e. bolt holes, materials, fixings etc.
A set of structural calculation can be drawn up by a qualified and certified engineer where by the model and drawings are used to evaluate distribution systems required to meet new loads or other changes in the distribution system. Calculations are there to prove the structural integrity is sufficient when certain loads and forces are applied to the product design.
Approval drawings are created from the 3D model and are issued to the client for approval. All the necessary elevations are set out and section details are created from these views to provide clarity of fixings and structural connections. These are dimensioned and notes are applied to provide all the relevant information.
Bringing the design to life. Once approval is received from the client a fabrication pack is compiled which will include a material list for the purchase order, a set of detailed drawings of all the individual components needed for fabrication and a set of part marked assembly drawings. Attention to detail and the supply of all the relevant information is crucial for a smooth fabrication process.
For the construction phase a set of Installation drawings are compiled with all the relevant elevations and information needed to install the product design safely and correctly. This provides all the technical information for the connection such as fixing types, embedment depths and recommended torque required if necessary.
As-built drawings provide a detailed record of the final layout of a construction project. Any modifications or changes during the installation process will be documented on the As-built drawing and issued to the client at the hand over meeting.
We understand the demand for quality and reliability, we realise that there is a constant shortage of reliable CAD Technicians out there. We can assure you that you will be happy with our service and product. You may be in a position where you are overloaded, understaffed or just require a reliable CAD Technician to help you with your project, MCT Designs is the service for you.
Owner, CEO, Lead Designer, CAD Expert and all round good guy.
I started my draughting career working and studying part time at an engineering firm in South Africa.
During my 10 years at this firm I gained a great deal of knowledge and learned the art of design and detailing. I worked in the design office designing cascade transfer chutes for the mining sector in SA and abroad.
This led me to spread my wings as a CAD technician and found myself on UK shores, where I landed a position at one of the leading architectural metalwork companies in London. It was a challenge in the beginning and a bit of a culture shock but having previous experience with CAD and draughting standards it stood me in good stead to add architectural metalwork to my list of expertise. I quickly learned the trade and not before long I was offered a supervisory role, which I pursued.
I have worked on some high end projects in London i.e. Chelsea Barracks, Waterloo Station and Centre Point to name a few and have got to work with some of the leading designers, architects and engineers in the field who I have gained a great deal of knowledge from.
During this time I got the opportunity to move to Ireland. I always had in the back of my mind that I would one day start my own business, this was a great opportunity to pursue my dream, which led me to founder MCT Designs.
I have a passion for what I do and really get a great sense of pride when I see my designs come to life. It would be great to connect and discuss your project in detail.
